I had an old english sheepdog who died several years ago, named Riley. They are loyal, fun, and great watch dogs. They do not generally enjoy heat, but if you get them shaved, they will stay cool and happy. After all, they have long coats and can overheat easily with all that fur! Also, it usually depends on what your dog is like on whether or not they like to swim. They can be lazy as they get old, but when they are young (puppy to about 3 or 4 years old) they love being active. Playing fetch on the beach is fun for any big dog, so yes, they CAN enjoy swimming.
Old english sheepdogs are known for their carefree, kind, and laid back attitude. They do not usually mind other dogs, but sometimes dogs that are smaller than them may feel intimidated and won’t like them in return. They are also great with children, they are very cuddly, loyal dogs and are very protective. They are easy to fall in love with, so expect a new best friend in every way when you adopt one!
