  • Nope, don’t know any natural stuff. Comfortis is the best flea/tick preventive. Comes in tablet form.

lavender for the house (lavender cleaning products and lavender dryer sheets). For the dogs, use lavender baby oil. Make sure the house is nice an warm first then rub it down to the skin. Let it sit for a bit and then wash with dawn dish soap really well. I know it all sounds weird but it really does work. We had mega fleas on our dog and the drops didn’t work either. One use of the baby oil and it killed them all. Hope this helps! =0)

    EDIT:
    Why I know it works:
I couldn’t get the fleas to leave my dog and I had heard someone say that they don’t like lavender. The only safe product to use that I had was lavender baby oil (I was planning on getting lavender baby shampoo the next day but it was like 10 at night and my dog was having a bad allergy to the flea bites so I needed something quick). I used the lavender baby oil, let it sit for about 10-15 min, and then washed her. It got rid of them all. After that, I started getting the Mr.Clean lavender smelling cleaning products and lavender dryer sheets and we havent had a flea prob. since. My moms house was where she got the mutant fleas that only the baby oil would kill (I had used other products that day that didn’t kill them) and I told her what I did. She started using the lavender in her house then too and it got rid of the fleas there as well. I really hope this helps you and others

Some people believe that a light sprinkle of garlic powder can help make fleas go away. (if you use it, use it sparingly.)

But you need to treat your entire home with a flea remedy. Just treating the dog is a losing battle. You will never get rid of them that way.

Just treating the dogs with Advantage is not enough to get rid of flea infestation. They are now in your carpet, furniture, bedding, yard. You need to set off fumigator or bombs in the house, wash all bedding, toys, pillow covers, etc. Bathe the dogs, put Frontline or Advantage on them or give them one of the new pills from your vet. Treat the yard with a powder or granule flea killer like Spectracide Once And Done. Then be prepared to do all this again in 2 wks. Repeat until the fleas are gone.
Or hire a professional exterminator with a 30 day or more guarantee. Call them back in 10 days for retreatment at no cost.

    That’s a tough one…
There are all kinds of flea remedies… but the issue is probably less your dogs, and more an infestation of your house or their living area.
You first need to determine if the area you keep them or your home is infested. Not hard to do, if they are everywhere, you are infested.
You should go to a feed store and buy bug bombs, (make sure they specify flea removal), one for each room in the house, basement and attic incuded, and garage if you have one attached. All animals need to be removed, fish tanks covered by plastic (non pourus so the spray can’t seep in). Set off the bombs and leave your house for the recommended time (4 hours I think?). While you are out, flea bathe your dogs, then flea dip them (get good stuff at PetCo). I found Advantix worked better than frontline, sometimes if you use the same “stuff” it stops working, not sure why, so maybe change up your product?
For natural flea control, there is diatemacious earth. You can order it from “only natural pet store” it’s an online catalog. They offer other natural remedies as well.
Including garlic and brewers yeast in your pets food (small amounts) helps too.
But first and formost you have to get the infestation under control.
If you keep your dogs in a kennel situation, you will need to get that “bombed” as well. Again, Only Natural will have stuff, pet co, or your local garden center, even a home depot. Just becareful, and remember the bombs are toxic, so follow the reccomendations on the labels, and ask questions on how best to use them.

My guess at the reason why it hasn’t been working is because you haven’t treated your home from a flea infestation.
Fleas don’t just live in your dog’s fur, they live in carpets & bedding & in the cracks of floors. Everywhere.
I strongly suggestion using Flea Bombs/powders/sprays/etc to treat your home. If not, they can still end up on your dogs.
