Goldens by a mile ..OES are very hyper. The mature at 3 or 4yrs old if you are very lucky. There is of course the exception to that but they are alot of work to keep the coat matt free without having to resort to stripping it.
You are comparing apples to oranges, these are 2 completely different breeds. I have a Golden and she is my 3rd one. I also have a yellow lab and he is my 4th. I like the sporting breeds, but thats me. I have an active lifestyle and these breeds are great for me. You need to do research and decide what breed is best for you. The AKC web site has breed information. I suggest you go to your local shelter or visit petfinder.com and find a dog who is in need of a home. If you decide to go to a breeder be sure it is a reputable breeder, not a puppy mill.
