Sheepdogs - sheep dog trials

Old English Sheepdog comes from the west of England. It belongs to a breed of working dogs. This breed was selected because there was a need for a strong dog who was able to repulse the wolves and livestock protection. Towards the middle of the nineteenth century, these sheepdogs herd were used for cattle on the market. Apparently, the breed of working dogs are not taxable, but they must have their tails cut off to prove it. This practice continues in modern times with this particular breed of dog.

The Old English Sheepdog was already recognized by the AKC 1905.
